Nordic and Baltic Animation Festival Fredrikstad

After 6 years, the organizers of the Oslo Animation Festival have moved operations to Fredrikstad. Even with a new name, the Festival invites both animators and spectators to take part in five days of animated fun to promote the screening and better understanding of animation. The festival presents: Nordic and Baltic films in competition, Nordic and Baltic Panorama, International highlights, a Focus on Canadian animation, Paul Driessan as Guest of Honor, Animated Special Effects, a Celebration of Oskar Fischinger, Jury Progams, Exhibitions and even more.

Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films

The 14th World Festival of Animated Films - Zagreb 2000 is an ASIFA sanctioned event dedicated to the art of animation. Categories are: work from 30 sec. to 6 min. long; work from 6 min. - 15 min. long; work 15min. to 30 min. long, and artists film debuts. Submissions can be sent on VHS tapes, but for screening a film print or a BETACAM SP PAL tape must be provided. Award with cash prizes will be given as follows: grand prize, a first prize in each time oriented catagories, and best first production.

Canada's Golden Sheaf Awards

Golden Sheaf Awards or the Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival offer awards in various categories which include Children's Production, Documentray Over 30 Minutes, Documentray Under 30 Minutes, and Drama Under 60 minutes. Films must be 16mm, BETACAM, BETACAM SP NTSC or VHS NTSC. The entry fee for the competition is CA$100. All films entered must have been completed between March 13, 1999 and February 10, 2000.

New York Festivals' International Print & Radio Advertising Awards

This competition is devoted to the recognition of excellence in print and radio advertising. All achievements marketed, run or distributed after February 1, 1999 are eligible for the competition. Entry fee: $150-200. All winners will be featured on the New York Festivals web site and the top winners in the New York Times and leading newspapers and trade publications in the world.

33rd Annual US International Film and Video Festival

The 6th Annual Toronto Short Film Festival

The festival will have the following categories/programs: Computer Animation, International, Visions Canada, Children's Cinema and Midnight's Mania. Films must have been completed after June 1998, and not exceed 40 minutes. Films will be selected based on quality and originality. In conjunction with the festival, a marketplace will be set up for TV buyers, distributors, producers, exhibitors, development and acquisition executives and networks to view all films submitted on video. Over 1,600 videos will be included in the market catalogue.

Playboy's Comix And Animation Contest

Be a part of Playboy's rich heritage of cartoon humor. Participate in Playboy's Comix and Animation Contest. Win $25,000 and a one-year contract with Playboy. All multimedia formats welcome: Shockwave, Flash, videotape, pen and ink and more. Animation entry running time must not be over 5 minutes. Grand prize winner receives $25,000. Five honorable mentions will also be selected. Judges include Scott Adams, Award winning creator of Dilbert, and Kevin Smith, Writer/Director of hit films "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma." As with any contest there are lots of rules and regulations.

The First World Internet Animation Competition
