The Banff World Television Festival celebrates the art and business of television production. The event will offer a full slate of sessions on the issues that are central to those working in international co-production and genres. Conference sessions will address successful collaborations and business models for co-financing, funding and marketing television programming as well as emerging genres and burgeoning technologies such as HDTV. There will also be major sessions around treaty and international co-production issues across genres, with the goal of finding solutions to open more doors on co-production among treaty and non-treaty partners. Case studies and master sessions will also examine the anatomy of recent successful co-production projects. BANFF continues its tradition of facilitating new business opportunities with the continuation of its famous pitching competitions: Market Simulation, New Players Pitch, iPitch for interactive projects and the world's most lucrative pitch - CTV Canadian Documart. These competitions offer producers the opportunity to pitch their hot new ideas to a distinguished group of international broadcasters and decision-makers. Now in its 30th year, the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF 06) is the premiere animation festival in North America. Independent, commercial, and student animators working in a variety of media submit their work, under eight umbrella categories; including independent short films, feature films, new media, music videos, commercials, TV shows, student films, films for children, and a new addition this year, TELETOON Canadian Student Animation Scholarship. To help celebrate its 30th anniversary, before each screening OIAF 06 will screen a signal film from a past Ottawa festival. In addition to the competition and non-competitive Showcase screenings, OIAF 06 will include Warner Bros. animation legend Bob Clampett, Italian master Bruno Bozzeto (Allegro Non Troppo), celebrated Russian Animator Konstantin Bronzit, New York experimental artist Jeff Scher, a selection of Bravo!Fact's best animation shorts, and Toon Town: a special celebration of animation produced in Canada's Capital City. Returning after its launch at OIAF 06 is the 3rd Annual Television Animation Conference, Canada's only industry forum for television animation producers, broadcasters, and buyers to network, discuss market trends, and conduct business. This year, the Ottawa International Animation Festival received a total of 2377 entries from 81 different countries. Of those, 94 short films and 4 feature films were chosen for competition. In addition, 49 showcase films were chosen to represent the efforts of the Canadian, International, and Student communities.
