A retrospective of Ian Emes animations is taking place next week in London, 25 June. Q & A will follow the screening and there's also an exhibition of his cels and backgrounds.

The American International Toy Fair is the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere. More than 1,500 manufacturers, distributors, importers and sales agents from 30 countries showcase their toy and entertainment products. From classic toys to interactive entertainment and everything in between, it has it all. Enter web competition HAFFTube! For the second time the Holland Animation Film Festival presents an International competition for web animations. HAFFTube is our official channel within YouTube. That's where it all happens. Flash, Machinima, Brickfilms, this competition is open for all animation films available online! How does it work? Please read the regulations carefully and note that your film should be uploaded on YouTube before submitting the entry form. HAFF will rate the films that have been entered for competition. This starts from September 7th onward. When we have reached our set limit of 50 films, the official voting begins. Every week, films will be voted out by the HAFF-staff, to create possibilities for new entries. And so HAFFTube will gradually fill-up with animated films from all over the world. Deadline for entries is October 15, 2009. An International jury of filmmakers selects the winner out of the final 50 titles. Aniboom (www.aniboom.com), the premier multi-platform animation network that partners with untapped animation talent from around the world to create independent animated content for global distribution, is holding its 2007 Aniboom Awards. Animators can enter work in five categories, with no limit to the number of categories or submissions per entrant. Categories include Funny, Drama, Music Videos, Amateur and Experimental. Each month for four months, one winner from each category will join the finalist pool. From there, a winner will be chosen from each category to compete for the grand prize. Prizes include a $25,000 original series development deal, $3,000 to each category winner, Toonboom Software (valued at $7,000) and exposure to some of the most renowned industry executives. The Aniboom Awards will be judged by entertainment executives and animation industry veterans, including multi-award-winning animator and Oscar nominee Paul Driessen. In 2006, the Annual Aniboom Awards received more than 1,700 entries from more than 70 countries in its inaugural year. Winner Jossie Malis took home $25,000 for his animation BENDITO MACHINE. The DC Anime Club and the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan Present BLEACH THE MOVIE: MEMORIES OF NOBODY on Friday October 24, 2008 at 6:30pm as part of the Anime/Live Action Series based upon Manga (Japanese Comics).

In Karakura Town, there has been a sudden outbreak of unidentifiable spirits called "blanks" (vacant souls) while in the skies of Soul Society, the real world has been reflected. A mysterious female shinigami called Senna has appeared before Ichigo along with a man named Ganryu, leading a group called the "Dark Ones."

The screening will be held at the Japanese Information and Culture Center, Embasy of Japan located at Lafayette Center III 1155 21st Street, NW Washington, DC 20036-3308. Seating for the screening of BLEACH THE MOVIE is limited and attendees are encouraged to RSVP by sending an e-mail to jiccrsvpfall08@embjapan.org.

The Portland Indy Animation Festival 2004 is now accepting competitive and non-competitive entries. The Festival celebrates independent animators around the world, the more independent and original, the better. Submissions can include all aspects of animation including 3D, 2D, machinima, stop motion, filmed puppetry (in all its forms), animated trailers for works in progress and interpretations of the art of animation. Format of submissions (which are final) must be provided on one of the following: DVD, SVCD, VCD, VHS (PAL/SECAM/NTSC), miniDV, SWF (Flash) or mpeg2. Entries need to be received by 23rd July 2004. The Festival will take place at several venues 11th - 14th August 2004 in Portland, Oregon, USA. Entries submitted for the competition will be evaluated by judges and the audience. There will be awards handed out to those present on the last day of the festival. Live Improvised Animation Performance in Immersive Planetarium Dome Theater

Spontaneous Fantasia at the Glendale Community College Planetarium is a showcase for the combined efforts of a visual artist, performance artist, animator, musical composer, and Technical Academy Award winner. All happen to be the same person: J.Walt Adamczyk, he of the multiple talents and Scrabble-worthy last name, puts together an hour of improvised 3D animation and music through interactive CG techniques, accompanied by his own original score.

Adamczyk creates live animated scenes which include alien landscapes, strange oceanic ballets, surreal gardens, psychedelic swirls.

The show is suitable for all ages, though tots might find it too intense.

Design Festa is a biannual international art event, started in 1994. It is open to all artists from all over the world to exhibit their creative talent freely. 7,000 artists working in a variety of mediums will be present, turning the two day event into artistic chaos. There will be booth areas(2,600 booths), an outdoor live-show stage, an indoor stage, a mini-theater space and a restaurant and cafe/bar area, all for your enjoyment during these two days filled with art, energy, excitement and discovery.
