The Art of Design: Punch Gallery - Opening Thursday June 5th

Posted In | Event Category: Animation, New Media, Special | Event Type: Exhibits
The Art of Design: Graphic Artists paint pretty pictures. CURATORIAL STATEMENT. Often in our image saturated lives good design is overlooked. Artists who's days are spent designing and selling everything from toothbrushes to t-shirts, websites to watermelons are rarely recognized for their art. They hone their skills and creativity on the company dime, conceptualizing their personal projects and waiting for the moment when they can create without care of the bottom line. The Art of Design was curated with the intent of showcasing Designers as Artist. Providing them the space to paint pretty pictures. The Art of Design will also provide the perfect backdrop for BD4D being hosted by PUNCH GALLERY June 6, 2003. ART of DESIGN featured artists: Nick Philip (Imaginary Foundation, London, SF) MatzuMTP (Japan/NYC) Kozyndan (LA) Jon Santos (NYC/SF) Daniel P (Psyop, Sao Paulo/NYC) Damion Silver (Philadelphia) Marlon Ingram (SF) Ian Johnson (FTC,SF) Jordan Viray (True,SF) Am Radio (SF) Misk (SF) Andre Sibayan (SF) Cir Sayoc (SF) Exact Science (SF) William Blaze (SF/NYC) [sic] (SF/NYC) BD4D (By Designers, For Designers), founded in early 2002 by Ryan Carson and Ryan Shelton out of London, announces its first event in San Francisco. Put together in collaboration with FlashTV! (www.flashtv.com), BD4D seeks to promote digital artists in a fun, relaxed, and most importantly, FREE atmosphere.
