The ProWeekend Animation Seminar at Lipscomb University gives you the chance you have been dreaming about to learn from some of the best artists in the world all within the beautifully hip surroundings of Nashville, TN!  This is THE event to meet fellow students and pros from around the country and expand your professional network.

Saturday All Day Seminar – Lectures from Aaron Blaise, John Pomeroy & Eric Goldberg

Lectures

Each of the guest lectures will present for two hours on their career and experience. In addition to providing insight into how they do what they do, they will be providing tips and tricks they have learned along the way. The lectures will also include demonstrations of their techniques.

Eric Goldberg – Disney Animator/Director

Eric Goldberg gained the world’s attention as the Supervising Animator and designer of the wise-cracking Genie in “Aladdin”.  In addition, Goldberg animated many other Disney characters, co-directed the successful Pocahontas, and directed, wrote and animated two critically acclaimed sequences in Fantasia/2000.  His “Character Animation Crash Course” book is used at art schools around the globe.  Goldberg will give an overview of his career and also discuss “Creating Memorable Characters”.

Aaron Blaise – Disney Animator/Director

During the 21 years Aaron Blaise was at Disney Animation he helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made, including: “The Rescuers Down Under”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “The Lion King”, “Pocahontas” and ”Mulan”.  In 2003 he was co-director of “Brother Bear” for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.  Blaise will give a career overview and discuss “Creating a Story for an Animated Feature”.

John Pomeroy – Disney/ Bluth Supervising Animator, Producer

John Pomeroy began working at The Walt Disney Company in 1973 gaining respect in the industry quickly.  In 1979 Pomeroy and others left Disney to form the independent studio Don Bluth Productions where he was producer and supervising animator on most all of the Bluth Films.  Pomeroy came back to Disney as the supervising animator of John Smith in “Pocahontas”, supervising animator of  Milo in “Atlantis”, and many other films.  Pomeroy will talk about his long career at both Disney and Don Bluth Productions.  His lecture entitled “The Process of Making An Animated Feature Film” will include many never-before seen clips, rough animation, storyboards, and more.
