Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts and Film City have launched the Whistling Woods Intl. film school on the Film City campus in Mumbai, reports VARIETY. The school will begin classes in July and has a teaching staff that includes Bollywood actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, helmers Ghai, Shyam Benegal and Aruna Raje.
Spring term for Gnomon School of Visual Effects begins April 3 through June 11. New classes include:
* Digital Sculpting and Texturing in ZBrush. This course is a comprehensive look at ZBrush's complete toolset for high-end 3D modeling and texturing. Instruction introduces a complete ZBrush workflow beginning with a base mesh and taking it to a complete ZBrushed finish. Instructor: Scott Spencer.

In this overview of modeling cars for a polygon/sub division surface pipeline, he applies his modeling techniques to different car models, showing you how to build a model, create surface details and prepare the model for texturing.
TELETOON announced an expanded partnership with the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) in support of the TELETOON Canadian Student Animation Scholarship. The program gives finalists and winners exposure with a screening of their films during the festival. TELETOON has been associated with the OIAF as a festival partner since the networks inception, in 1997.
Concept design luminaries James Clyne and Neville Page will be teaching two new courses at Gnomon School of Visual Effects during the spring 2006 term, which begins April 3. Clyne has developed and will teach Environment Workflow Techniques, while Pages course is Character Workflow Techniques. Both courses are five weeks in length.

The Philippines-based Technical Education Development and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to implement its first software development and animation training curricula at two new IT training centers this month, reports INQ7.net.

Sorun Corp., a Japanese company that consults on information systems, and Digital Hollywood, a Japanese digital creation school, have announced they will be investing in a new digital media school set up at Nankai University in the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin, reports Yahoo.com.
The Tianjin Sorun Digital Media school will open this fall with capital of 210 million yen (1.8 million dollars). Sorun Corp. will invest 81% of the capital, with Digital Hollywood and Nankai University supplying 9.5% each.

The Gnomon Workshop and Design Studio Press have released five new training DVDs, three from veteran Scott Robertson, and the first two from the concept designer known as Puddnhead.

Studio Arts, in collaboration with LAUSD's Venice Skills Center, will be hosting a special, full-time computer animation training program beginning Jan. 9, 2006. This intensive, high-end, low-cost animation program will meet daily, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and will consist of daily lectures, demonstrations, lab time and additional video support in award-winning Alias Maya. The course runs for 20 weeks and costs only $75 for the entire semester. The semester ends June 23, 2005.
