Chris Waldron has been promoted to the position of vice president, gaming operations for Cartoon Network, it was announced today by Paul Condolora, senior vice president, digital for Turner Broadcasting's Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media group. Waldron is now responsible for overseeing Cartoon Network's game development studio, game production, and overall games strategy for Cartoon Network Digital. Waldron is based in Atlanta and reports directly to Condolora.

Cartoon Network Enterprises will work with Del Rey Manga to develop graphic novels based on the animated adventure series THE SECRET SATURDAYS, reports KIDSCREEN.

The first title is set to debut in September, with volume two coming before the end of the year. Featuring detailed, full-color stills from the series, the SATURDAYS comics will follow the same format as those based on BEN 10: ALIEN FORCE and BAKUGAN BATTLE BRAWLERS.

Cartoon Network announced today that rocker Andrew W.K. will host the new heavy duty destruction and demolition competition show DESTROY BUILD DESTROY. Andrew W.K., popular musician, television star and motivational performer, will moderate the mayhem between two teams as they take charge of demolition and construction. Cartoon Network will bring REBORN (working title) to the small screen, a re-telling of the legend of King Arthur that will be live action, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

The toon network has been pushing toward the live-action side, with more than half of their new 19 shows and movies to be live action. Lionsgate president of motion picture production Alli Shearmur will exec produce with Travis Wright, who also wrote the project.

VARIETY reports that two London-based Disney Channel EMEA execs have departed the company: Steve Aranguren, VP for global original programming and managing director Michael Cairns.

The departure happened two weeks ago, and is related to Disney's full takeover of Jetix Europe. Bob Ferguson is now set to run the television side in the U.K. and Ireland and act as general manager for the Jetix and Disney Channels. He has more than 20 years of broadcast experience and 13 years running three Jetix channels in the U.K. and the Nordic region.
