Anime director Mamoru Oshii (GHOST IN THE SHELL) will helm another live-action film, according to VARIETY. Breaking an eight-year hiatus from live-action, Oshii will make ASSAULT GIRLS, starring Oscar nominee Rinko Kikuchi (BABEL), Meisa Kuroki (ONE MISSED CALL FINAL) and Hinako Saeki (THE RING 2: SPIRAL).

The three women will play post-apocalyptic hunters of gigantic morphing creatures called sand whales.

Bloody-Disgusting.com has announced that SAW creator James Wan will be co-writing and directing CASTLEVANIA. RESIDENT EVIL director Paul W.S. Anderson will be producing. Sylvain White was previously attached to direct. Wan said he was attracted to the adaptation of the Konami game because it blends the DRACULA myth with Japanese anime, while providing a "human hero… as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain."
