We are excited to announce a travelling art exhibit featuring the work of Syd Mead. The premier showing is planned for January 26, 2012 at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale, California.

“Syd Mead | Progressions” is an exhibition celebrating more than 50 years of Syd Mead’s talent, vision, and imagination. It highlights his career preparation at Art Center School and his ongoing creative work, which continues to this day.  This exhibition spans personal and commercial works and will include his paintings, sketches, and drawings.

Featured pieces of art include “Hypervan” and iconic series of 4 paintings, one of which is highlighted in his 4 part DVD series “Techniques of Syd Mead”:  “Bar Basque Food Parc” – his final design of an upscale New York City Eatery that has become the “hot spot” in Manhattan, and “Pebble Beach” triptych – created for the 2000 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  Also, Syd is creating an all new piece, yet untitled, that will debut at the opening and travel with the exhibition.

Attendees will get a glimpse into his thought process, unique approach, and detailed technique as they move from idea to perfect visual execution in his finished pieces of artwork.  They will experience selected drawings and color preliminaries showing the progression from his idea through to the final artwork.
