Would I need a 2d animation program for this?

Hi everybody, I have a question.

So I want to make an animation using preexisting images. Basically, I want to make the images smoothly transition from one to another (not just change from one image to another without a segue), as well as change sizes (so for example, one image would start out at regular size and get bigger, then over the course of 1-2 seconds go back to the original size). Would I need a 2d animation program to do this or something else? Thanks!

You are talking about

You are talking about morphing and it can be done with any software.

Sorry I'm a noob. When you

Sorry I'm a noob. When you say any software, like any 2d animation? Could you give me an example of a program that does this? The only program I use for altering things is GIMP, and I'm pretty sure it can't do what I want it to do.

There are programs that will

There are programs that will morph from one shape to another but you should be doing this with your hands.

Pick you starting object and what you wont it to morph into. Play around with the shape of the starting object by moving from the starting object to the end object.

You wont to turn a circle into a square or a  square into a circle, experiment with the in-betweens to get the look that you wont.

If you are trying to do a face, then there are to guideline that would be helpful. Morphing from one face to another had a better result if the eyes are keeps a the same location on the screen.

The commnet about every software has the morph feature is a bit of an over reach. Sorry about that.

Advance programs do have, like Maya and Lightware. I think you would be better off doing the morphing with your own hands.

Okay, so when you say 'with

Okay, so when you say 'with your hands' what do you mean by this? Do you mean doing it by hand using a 2d animation program or using something else? I probably will do it by hand, I just need to know a program that I can download that will do this so I can get started and then I can look up tutorials on my own.

Thank you for your help by the way. I have asked this question on several different sites and you are the only one who has attempted to help me.
