Need some advice on animation software please...

Hi,

I'm looking for some help folks. I'm an absolute beginner, no experience in animation at all - however I've been inspired to make a short film. I'm looking for a decent animation package for a beginner such as myself.

I have an idea of the features I'm looking for: The ability to scan/import images, photos and video (I'm no artist and won't be able to draw it all as I envisionage it) and to either trace these or convert them to animated frames. It would also need to be fairly simple to use and inexpensive. This is just a personal project and I'm conscious of not biting off more than I can chew so looking at a fairly static/ storyboard style with minimal/ choppy animation - the ability to create some depth would be handy too.

If anyone has any ideas and could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful...

Cheers

Matt

Usually people use something

Usually people use something like Toon Boom Animate or Adobe Flash, but those programs can get pricy. You can likely find a free trial of one though, to see if you might like it.

Thanks hilldav... I'm wading

Thanks hilldav... I'm wading through and researching various software - trouble being I don't really know what I'm looking at. I think I'd be happy with somethin that can deal with video...
