Pixar stock investigation

News this morning that some stock option grants for Pixar execs going back as far as '97 may have been timed to their benefit.

Why doesn't that surprise me?

Pat Hacker, Visit Scooter's World.

It's not an issue to me that execs and employees get options but they should be granted at the stock value of the day issued.

Right graphite, and that's what's at issue. The timing of the grants seems...fortuitous. In one case, they were able to buy at the lowest price of the year (some stock purchase plans have this feature, but it's a bit unusual for option grants), and in another the grant came just before a major (positive) annoucement. That kind of timing can be construed as insider trading, as the executives of the company have information not available to the general public.
