Cheap book alert!

While browsing through my local Borders this evening, I ran across a pile of copies of "Shrek: From The Swamp To The Screen" for the very affordable price of:

$3!

The book has pre-production and production art from both movies, and is cheaper than a Big Mac value meal. Go forth and add this to your library... :D

Total insanity. I saw that book when it first came out, and it looked like they really gave a crap about what went in it...not your run-of-the-mill obligatory timed-with-release scrape-the-trash deal...it seemed weird, in a funny way...like whacked out like everyone had fun making it.

I'll keep an eye out now that it's no longer 25 bucks =)

But does it taste as good as a Big Mac? No way!

By that response I'm going to venture you've never had the guts to attempt the tasteless-yet-somehow-a-blend-of-grease-and-rubber "meat" sandwich. :p

Are you kidding me? I've lived off fast-food for years while I was living in the dorms. I've had more Big Macs than I care to remember.

My advice has always been to not scrimp on books. $3 for a book featuring a peek into a production is GOLD!

Its worth the time and shoe-leather to scout out book bargains ,and to take the bite to the wallet if there's only one copy at the "regular" price.
Just cannot have enough reference and instructional material because there's so many new ideas that can come from it.

Couldn't agree more, Ken. Back in my early days, I used to grab any book on animation or cartooning I could find, because they were few and far between. In those days I didn't have room for bookshelves, so I'd keep them in boxes and pull them out as necessary.

When I finally had room to display books, I emptied my boxes and found, to my surprise and delight, that I had a fairly extensive animation library!

While we're on the subject, a great source for "remaindered" books (like the Shrek volume) is Hamilton Books. www.hamiltonbook.com. I got all three of my "art of lord of the rings" books from them for less than half the store price.
