MICHAELA PAVLATOVA
(Czech Republic)

 

Animation director awarded numerous times internationally. Since 1991 and up until now she has made several exhibitions of her works in diverse countries such as the United States, Austria or Belgium. She taught animation for some years both in the Czech Republic and the United States. One of her best known and awarded films is Words, words, words, already shown in CINANIMA. 
 
JIMMY MURAKAMI
(Ireland)
A very well known veteran of the animation field. The Violinist, one of his first animation films, received an Academy Award nomination. In London, he produced and directed several TV series. His films with TVC include The Insects (British Academy Award) and Charlie (Gold Award, Venice Childrenís Festival). He received prizes for his films all over the world and, some of them, were again nominated for the Oscar. At the moment, heís been producing quite a few animation projects. 
 
GUNNAR STROM
(Norway)
Associated Professor in animation at Volda College, Norway. Film Historian, he has already written books and directed documentaries about this art form. Member of ASIFA since 1988 and Board Member of CARTOON. Organised and presented programmes in festivals all over the world. Co-founder of the Oslo Animation Festival and member of International Juries in numerous festivals. 
 
ANTONIO LOJA NEVES
(Portugal)
Studied Cinema at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, ConservatÛrio Nacional, Lisbon. Journalist in Expresso. Antonio Loja Neves was member of a Film Society, Board Member of Lisbonís University Film Society and one of the founders of the Portuguese Association of Film Societies. Member of several International Juries in festivals of cinema and responsible for the Retrospectives of the African Films and for the Programme of Arabian Films. In the cinematography area he has also been a producer and direction assistant. Furthermore, he became an actor in the film Os Cannabis, directed by Manuel de Oliver. Presently, he is filming and preparing two documentaries about the relation existing between the Portuguese Society and the Spanish Civil War. 
 
CLARE KITSON
(United Kingdom)
Commissioning Editor, Animation, at Channel 4. Clare has also worked for the Director General of the International Film Association (ASIFA). She was then invited to organise the Animation Programming of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Since 1989, at Channel 4, she has commissioned several shorts that have been awarded numerous times. In 1993 she was the recipient of a Special Golden Cartoon award for the Channel 4's contribution to European Animation.
 
MARGARIDA GIL
(Portugal)
President of the International Jury. Since 1975 she is collaborator in RTP (Portuguese State Channel) where she has directed several documentaries that have been awarded internationally. She has also directed several TV programmes (RTP). Her experience in the area of cinema includes some long-feature films, namely O Anjo da Guarda, awarded the 1st Prize at the Rome Festival, 1999.
