ARTUR CORREIA
Born in Lisbon on the 20th April 1932. Some people say that he was still
a baby when he started copying and making drawings. However, it was in 1965,
when he joined Telecine, that he started dedicating himself to his great
passion: animation cinema. In 1973, together with Ricardo Neto, establishes
the animation company-studio, Topefilme. The national and international
recognition of his work becomes more frequent. He leaves his name in more
than 600 films, directed during 20 years. Quite a lot of work!
CARVALHO
BAPTISTA
Born in Espinho in 1941. Since an early age he became interested in photography
and cinema and took part in multiple cultural activities linked with the
Movement of the Amateur's Cinema. Member of the Académie Européene
des Arts. A great fan of animation, he was the main stimulator and monitor
of the first initiation courses that were organized by the Microcine Club,
Lisbon, between 1976/86. Participated in the organization of CINANIMA between
1981 and 1986. He has been dedicated to painting since 1985.
FERNANDO SARAIVA
Born in Oporto on the 23rd of February 1963. He attended several courses,
namely of Graphic Arts and Music. Training periods in theatre and, more
recently, animation. He is also involved in a programme of the Oporto's
City Hall, called "Animar o Associa-tiviso" being responsible
for the theatrical formation of young people. He has been responsible for
ANILUPA for 5 years.
LUÍSA TEIXEIRA
Born on the 25th of September 1956. Graduated in Graphic Arts and Design
at the Oporto School of the Arts. She works as a teacher and designer. Together
with Abi Feijó, she was the author of the 1st animation film produced
by Filmógrafo "A Noite saiu à Rua", the resonsible
for story-boards and animator of some of the films included in the first
series of programmes "Rua Sésamo".
MATOS BARBOSA
Born in 1935 in Oliveira de Azeméis. Runs a Cineclub in the 50's
and 60's. As an amateur, he was author of comics and animation cinema. Member
of the group of people who started the Federação Portuguesa
de Cineclubes Amadores (FPCA), of which he was a director. President of
the International Jury CINANIMA/84. Matos Barbosa has been awarded several
times during his career.
