The International Jury
FERNANDO LOPES

Cinema director. From his wide cirriculum we may point out more than 20 short films, documentaries and periodical programmes for the Portuguese television. Fernando Lopes obtained his degree in England and has began his activity in the 60's, as director and editor in RTP. He was one of the founders of the Portuguese Centre fo Cinema School at the National Conservatory. During a few years he was also the managing director of Channel 2. Many of his films have been presented and awardedin international festivals. He is the President of the International Jury - CINANIMA/96.


ABI FEIJO

Graduated in Graphic Arts and Design at the Oporto School of the Arts. He began attending animation workshops in CINANIMA and, since then, he never stopped. Founder of Filmógrafo, the only animation studio in Oporto. "Os Salteadores", that got his first prize in CINANIMA 93, has conquered the world with inumerous international awards. More recently, "Fado Lusitano", a work commissioned by the late master of British animation, John Halas, reveals to be another success. He was a member of the Selection Jury of the International Animation Film Festival Hiroshima and, now, he will be part of CINANIMA/96 International Jury.
FREDERICK BACK

Mr. Back has been awarded worldwide with his films. His cirriculum is so long that it would be impossible to enummerate so many prizes. However, we would like to stress the Oscar for best animation film given to "L'Homme Qui Plantait des Arbres" and "Crac" (this film has been considered 6th among 50 animation masterpieces) and a nomination for the Oscar for his most recent work "Le Fleuve aux Grandes Eaux", Great Prize in Annecy and awarded also in CINANIMA.


CILIA VAN DIJK

Cilia van Dijk was born in the Netherlands. In 1963 she married Gerrit van Dijk. An important reference, because, since then (Gerrit is one of the most prestiged animation directors in the Netherlands), she becomes involved in this form of art. She starts working as a producer. Besides this, she establishes an animation film distribution company "ANIMATED PEOPLE". After 15 years, this company becomes the foundation "Netherlands Institute of Animated Film", headed in Tilburg.


MICHEL OCELOT

Born in France. Presently, he is the President of ASIFA - International Association of Animation Film. Animator, author and director of several works. Among others, we may point out "Princesse Insensible", "Les Contes de la Nuit" and (still being directed), the long feature based in an African tale, "Kirkou et la Sorciére". He has been distinguished with awards in Paris, London, Zagreb, Annecy, Ottawa, Odense, Kiev and other international festivals.


ALEXANDER PETROV

Born in Russia in 1957. He works in animation since 1981. He improved his skills in this art in Moscow and also attended a course in Writing of the Script and Direction. He has already been awarded several international prizes. It is worth emphasizing the fact that he won the Great Prize CINANIMA 92 with the film "Dream of a Ridiculous Man".
