International Jury

To give the Awards, no simpler task, there is the International Jury. They will speak their minds and tell us who the winners are:

Rui Vieira Nery
(President of the Jury — Portugal)
Musicologist, working at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Responsible for several cultural events in our country and former Secretary of State for Cultural Affairs.

José Miguel Ribeiro
(Portugal)
Illustrator, teacher and animation films director. The one who has been awarded more prizes in our country. All his works have won prizes. But the biggest success was the film "The Suspect", made in volume animation (puppets and clay). Besides numerous international prizes, this film has obtained in 2000 the Golden Cartoon, the highest European prize for an animation film. This film is already in the commercial circuit as well as the book — "The Suspect — Backstage" — published this year.

Dave Master
(USA)
Prestiged North-American director, author of some feature fills. Professor of animation at the famous studio Warner Bros.

Bretislav Pojar
(Czech Republic)
Animation veteran in his country. Awarded several times internationally. Besides being a member of this festival's International Jury, he's bringing an exhibition of the beautiful puppets used in his films.

Monique Renault
(The Netherlands)
The only woman on this Jury. And this makes her even more special. She's the author of many animation films some of which have won prizes internationally and were even finalists of the Golden Cartoon. Human rights are her main concern.

Edward Nazarov
(Russia)
Animation Director and Professor. He's quite well known all over the world and ... a true friend of this festival.
