To mark the launch of the inaugural GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS: GAMER'S EDITION 2008, some of the nation's best players of GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK convened in New York City for a mesmerizing record-breaking jam session.

When the dust settled, one of the best GUITAR HERO players in the world, Chris Chike, age 16 from Rochester, Minnesota, walked away with a new Guinness World Record for the "Highest Score for a Single Song on GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK"

Director Mike Newell will shoot action-adventure flick PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS OF TIME in Morocco, VARIETY reports.

The video-game based film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney from a script by THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW writer Jeffrey Nachmanoff and game creator Jordan Mechner.

Disney hopes to create a new franchise a la PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN from the video game's six installments and numerous spin-offs.

Ecko Entertainment has entered into a production agreement with Showtime Networks to design a videogame based on the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning hit television series DEXTER, the companies announced Wednesday.

Ecko Entertainment and Showtime will work closely together to guarantee the faithfulness to the source material, a groundbreaking show about a sympathetic serial killer who only murders bad guys.

Ecko handled the production side of 2005's GETTING UP and is currently working on an untitled project with developer HUMAN HEAD.

Award-Winning Coca-Cola Commercial To Screen In UK

The multi award-winning Coca-Cola "Videogame" commercial directed by Nexus Productions' Smith & Foulkes is making its UK TV debut Monday.

"Videogame" puts a striking new slant on the violent world of computer games.

The fully computer-animated commercial, which will run for six weeks, was created in HD for Wieden & Kennedy (Portland) and first played during the 2006 Super Bowl.

It has since run in a number of other global markets, although never before in the U.K.

Blue Dragon Animated Series Coming To Cartoon Network

The highly anticipated BLUE DRAGON animated series will debut on Cartoon Network this spring, VIZ Media announced Friday.

The BLUE DRAGON series is based on the exclusive Xbox 360 videogame BLUE DRAGON, developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of FINAL FANTASY, and features character designs by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the best-selling DRAGON BALL series of manga.

The animated series debuted in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 7, 2007 and is produced by Studio Pierrot, which is well known for its work on NARUTO and BLEACH, also licensed by VIZ Media.

Developed by the same team at Traveller's Tales that created the LEGO STAR WARS series, LEGO INDIANA JONES presents a tongue-in-cheek take on the first three cinematic adventures of pop culture's most iconic archaeologist, including INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM and INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

EA's Casual Entertainment Label today announced BOOM BLOX, the first game developed in collaboration between EA and Steven Spielberg. This high-energy game features over three hundred levels, a variety of activities, a cast of over 30 characters, and an easy-to-use in-game editor that allows players to express their creativity. BOOM BLOX will be available in May 2008 for the Wii.

ADV Films is releasing the first volume of DEVIL MAY CRY and the second volume of MAGIKANO on DVD Feb. 5, 2008.

MAGIKANO: WITCH HUNT is the second of three DVD volumes.
