THE MAN BEHIND THE MOUSE: THE UB IWERKS STORY plays for one week at
Disney's El Capitan theater. Directed by Ub's granddaughter, Leslie Iwerks,
this is a documentary about the man who helped Walt Disney create the first
Mickey Mouse films, animating some of them nearly single-handedly, as well
as the Silly Symphony series, and helming his own animation studio. It
features never-before-seen archival footage, photos, previously censored
cartoon clips, and interviews with Roy Disney, Chuck Jones, John Lasseter,

Meet Chuck Jones, guest of honor at the grand re-opening of Animazing
Gallery at the art gallery's new location. The gallery is featuring a
retrospective of Jones' work, THE ART OF CHUCK JONES, which includes
original, vintage animation cels and drawings of the characters he created
or helped define including: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, and

The Toronto Animated Image Society presents "Recent Films by Toronto
Animators," including Arnie Lipsey, Eugene Fedorenko, Rose Newlove, Willy
Ashworth, Gerry Lagendyk and Patrick Jenkins. This event will be held at
Cinecycle, 129 (Rear Laneway) Spadina Avenue. Admission is free for TAIS

As part of ASIFA-Hollywood and Glendale Community College's Fourth Annual
Lecture Series on Careers in Animation, Sari Gennis will speak about
Special Effects on Tuesday, October 12 at 7 pm. Sari designed and animated
effects for the first STAR TREK movie and went on to form her own company,
ANIMATRIX, where she has produced and directed commercials, television
graphics, and theme park special effects. Since 1987 Sari has specialized
in effects animation for feature films, including ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN and

Children's bookstore Storyopolis celebrates the launch of Fox Family
Channel's THE KIDS FROM ROOM 402. Meet Fox Family Channel characters and

Sony Wonder Technology Lab, a center for high-tech entertainment and
education, will host ALL EYES ON CGI. The presentation will feature a
representative from Sony Pictures Imageworks, whose talent and technology
contributed to the upcoming feature film STUART LITTLE in which for the
first time ever, audiences are introduced to a three-dimensional,
photo-realistic, performance based, computer generated movie star.

The International Museum of Comic Art presents The Art of Charles M.
Schulz, creator of the comic strip, PEANUTS. The exhibit displays
artifacts, photos, magazine covers, Broadway and movie posters, toys,
dolls, blow-ups of historic strips and more tracing the decade-by-decade
evolution of Schulz' creation in the context of American history. The
exhibition takes place Saturday, October 2 - Sunday, January 30, 2000 in

Ray Harryhausen will appear at the REZNHEDZ Model and Toy Show at the
Hillside Holiday Inn just outside Chicago on October 9 and 10. The Chicago
International Film Festival is also sponsoring two events in conjunction
