The National Film Board of Canada returns to the Worldwide Short Film Festival (June 1 to 6, 2010) with five animated shorts films, including the world premiere of Theodore Ushev's latest film about enigmatic filmmaker Arthur Lipsett.

The Australian Effects & Animation Festival Awards - AEAF Awards - is an international competition and screening now in its 13th year and attracts entries from around the world. The Awards recognize and reward excellence and creativity in 10 categories of competition.

The AEAF Awards finalists and winners will be screened on 11 August 2010. 

The panel of judges will select the top ten entries in each category for screening and the top scoring entry will be named winner and receive the award.
The AEAF Awards are open to all digital content creators and motion graphics, digital video, animation and effects professionals and students.

Digital Media Online Festival For the first time, all entries will have the opportunity to be shown online at www.digitalmedia-world.com prior to judging by the panel.

Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film wrapped up six-day event with the presentation of its awards.

ASIFA-East handed out its awards on Sunday, May 9, 2010 with Aaron Hughes and Lisa LaBracio's BACKWARDS winning the Best in Show prize.

On this week's episode of the Frenzer Foreman Animation Forum, Alan gives Joel a sneak peek at his decades-old experimental energy sleep activity cycle! Then, the most impressively twinned pair of animation super-star multi-makers Fran and Will Krause ride into the forum on their tandem bike to discuss making things, breaking things, and their high-octane bacon-powered recipe for dancin' dancin' dancin'.

 

 

Now in our 6th year, The Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival is the only exclusively independent animation festival in Canada, with a focus on experimental and self-produced animated film. GIRAF plays an essential role in the promotion, education and appreciation of independent animation from around the world, exposing hungry local audiences to the best animated content from at home and abroad.  

There is no entry fee, and we pay artist fees for all screened animations.

DOK Leipzig is one of four international film festivals offered the opportunity to present a “Best of” programme at the Shanghai EXPO.

This summer the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will offer "Oscar Noir: 1940s Writing Nominees from Hollywood's Dark Side" at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

The SDAF showcases unique independent animation from all over the world as well as commercial content from the region. The SoDak Fest also hosts special guest artists to share ideas and inspiration with the public audience. Animation workshops are also held for festival attendees and members of the community. Student work is especially emphasized to support animation education. Prizes are awarded in the form of the coveted "Golden Cowbell Award"!

Past guest artists include animator Patrick Smith, filmmaker and animator PES, indie filmmaker Todd Rohal and Reid Thompson, creative director from Troika Design Group!

The SDAF is operated by faculty, staff and student volunteers of South Dakota State University, The Animation Club of South Dakota State University and the surrounding community. 100% of submission fees go directly to support animation education.
