Santiago Studios In Search Of U.S. Co-Prod.

Several animation studios in Santiago, Chile, including Arce Studios, EMU

Ltd., ROOS Film S.A., and Trimedia S.A. have formed a partnership to

promote the animation business in Santiago. The partners are looking for

co-producers and/or investors for their products. Alvaro Arce, President of

Arce Studios, worked in the animation industry in the United States for

many years at Hanna-Barbera, The Walt Disney Company, and others. Alvaro

has several original series currently in development. Arce Studios is now

Macromedia completes acquisition of Andromedia

Early in December 1999, Macromedia, a leader in digital and Internet software, announced it had completed its acquisition of Andromedia Inc., a leading provider of eMarketing software solutions for e-commerce. Macromedia previously announced a definitive agreement to acquire Andromedia on October 7, 1999. As part of the merger, Macromedia will obtain all of the outstanding stock in Andromedia. The company will issue 5.2 million shares of stock in connection with the deal and will incur one-time charges from the merger of up to $5 million in its fiscal third quarter.

Brazil Bans Violent Video Games

Brazil's Justice Ministry has banned six video games it considers too

violent for the public. This ruling comes on the heals of last month's

deadly shooting rampage in a movie theater by a medical student. "The games

are considered violent and [are] affecting people who play them,

particularly children," a ministry spokeswoman said. "As for DUKE NUKEM,

the ministry regulation says its virtual world may have motivated Mateus da

Costa Meira to stage the cinema shooting on November 3 in Sao Paulo." All

ASIFA Italy presents Art and Animation meetings.

Cult comic and TV franchise THE TICK is getting a new lease on life.
Producers Barry Sonnenfeld and Barry Josephson (FANTASY ISLAND, MAXIMUM
BOB), via their deal at Columbia TriStar Television, will bring a
live-action, primetime half-hour version of the clueless hero's show to Fox
Broadcasting. The series is scheduled for fall 2000.

ILM gets jiggy with Will2K

INDUSTRIAL LIGHT & MAGIC just finished up the new Will Smith video WILL2K for
Columbia Records and Sony Pictures. Robert Caruso directed the vid that sends
mega-star Will Smith on a Millenium eve time traveling spree. The futuristic
effects were created with ILM's newest motion capture software.

Dr. Michael Reed joins Blue Sky's research & development

BLUE SKY STUDIOS adds DR. MICHAEL REED as a new member to its research and
development team. He comes to Blue Sky after receiving his Ph.D. in
Computer Science from Columbia University and positions at the laboratories
of IBM, Philips, and Bell Atlantic Corporations. Reed will continue his
work with geometric surface construction techniques to create new solutions
in rendering and geometry for Blue Sky.
