AWN Participates In The SIGGRAPH '99 Electronic Schoolhouse

The Electronic Schoolhouse is a new program at SIGGRAPH providing educators and students with an environment in which they can explore and learn the many ways in which computer graphics are taught and used in the classroom. This program will launch at the 26th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, August 8-13, 1999.

Both DHIMA and AIA have new classes starting in July. Highlights on the CG side (DHIMA) - Starts the week of July 12: Maya; 3D Max; After Effects; Photoshop; Avid NT Editing; Game Design and Programming - Level 1. Special offer to new DHIMA CG July students: DHIMA will give out SIGGRAPH '99 exhibit passes to the first 50 students who register for the July session. DEVIANT! wins at New York Animation Festival

Eoin Clarke's DEVIANT! won the Best of Festival award at the first New York
Animation Festival. The first New York Animation Festival presented a
diverse international program of film and video animation from May 13-15 in
New York City. Over 2500 attended the three-day event which was held in
Greenwich Village at The New School for Social Research's Tishman

and current work produced by our students. After a ton of hard work, these
DHIMA students are ready to blow off some steam with staff, students,
alumni, and industry. See why SIGGRAPH '97 and '98 recognized 11 of DHIMA
students with awards. Past graduates have gone on to work at companies such
as Digital Domain, Pixel Envy, SEGA, Namco, Square, Alias|Wavefront, etc.

SIGGRAPH 99, taking place in Los Angeles from August 8-12, is currently accepting entries for the Computer Animation Festival. The selected films and videos will appear in either the daily screening room, the Electronic Theater or in other special events. Entries can be sent in many areas including animation, entertainment, special effects, visualization, research and technique, education, architecture, art, music, dance, non-narrative and experimental works, commercial productions and student-produced works. Film submissions must be received by April 7, 1999.

Computer Animation Boot Camp arrives in March

Career Boot Camp, presented by the L.A. Chapter's of SIGGRAPH and Women in Animation, is a one-day intensive computer animation-geared event taking place Sunday, March 7 from 9-5 p.m. at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, California. The program is designed to inform people interested in breaking into the computer animation and visual effects industries. Attendees will hear from industry professionals from such companies as Industrial Light & Magic, the Walt Disney Company, Pacific Data Images (PDI), Tippett Studios, Area 51 and numerous others.
