Malaysian animation studio INSPIDEA (combining inspiring and ideas) will participate in MIP-TV at stand 13.24 and is bringing JOHAN, THE YOUNG SCIENTIST, a new 26x12 animated series about a child whose inquisitive nature leads him to a great deal of scientific adventures and discoveries.

“JOHAN, THE YOUNG SCIENTIST is designed to boost a child’s awareness about simple scientific ideas in our everyday life,” said Andrew KH, head of production & distribution at INSPIDEA.

Alliance Atlantis Entertainment Group announced its has secured a U.S. broadcast deal with ABC Family in addition to a Canadian broadcast deal with CBC for its new children’s CGI animated property, DRAGON BOOSTER. ABC Family will begin airing the series on Saturdays and Sundays as part of its Jetix block in January 2005. Also set to debut in January 2005, DRAGON BOOSTER will air in CBC’s after school block during the weekday and on Saturday mornings. The company also confirmed that other key markets would be finalized prior to MIP-TV.

Breakthrough Entertainment will bring three new animated productions to MIP-TV 2004.

DIC Ent.’s evp of creative affairs Robby London will be attending MIP-TV as a buyer to acquire, for the first time, educationally qualified programming to air in the U.S. on DIC Kids’ Network. The programming will make up a three-hour programming block for kids designed to meet “core” FCC requirements.

Mainframe Ent. will be sailing into MIP-TV with new CG special POPEYE’S VOYAGE: THE QUEST FOR PAPPY as well as episodes of the new series BINOMES and BEAT FREAKS at booth 09.06.

London-based Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment Group has established a new company called Dreamcloud on the Gold Coast, in Queensland, Australia as a joint venture with Light Knights Entertainment, the Brisbane-based animation company whose credits include the 3D musical animated drama series, THE SHAPIES.

4Kids Entertainment, Inc. has announced that it will be bring seven properties to MIP-TV 2004 for the first time. These programs include TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, YU-GI-OH!, POKÉMON, KIRBY: RIGHT BACK AT YA!, ULTIMATE MUSCLE, THE WINX CLUB and SHAMAN KING.

At this year's MIP-TV, TV-Loonland will show new developments such as WEREKIDS and JOHNNY MUTTON and will also bring a host other shows such as HEIDI, a 75-minute feature version of the classic children's tale.

MarVista Entertainment, a newly formed distribution and production company, will make its first visit to MIP-TV in 2004. It will offer family-oriented entertainment, ranging from live-action television series, new and original TV movies to digitally re-mastered classics available for broadcast and DVD distribution.

The merger of the distribution arms of Antefilms Production and France Animation has resulted in the launch of Moonscoop at MIP-TV, a new joint distribution brand. It will combine the respective sales slates of the two companies to create a catalog of more than 1,600 half hours of programming including popular titles such as FUNKY COPS and TITEUF.
