In honor of it’s 60th anniversary this year, the United Nations (UN) will debut a special public service announcement (PSA) at MIP-TV 2005. The 60-second spot, produced by Harmony Gold, is part of a broader effort to increase awareness of the work of the UN during this special period culminating with the 60th opening session of the UN General Assembly in the fall.

Mondo Media has finalized a series of wireless licensing deals that will blanket Europe with its internationally popular HAPPY TREE FRIENDS animated characters. Via its new wireless licensing agreements brokered by its western European agent Celebrities Ent., the HAPPY TREE FRIENDS characters are now available in five basic configurations — Java games, episode download, spot download, image based content and true tones/sound tones.

Just months after its debut on PBS KIDS GO! in the U.S., Scholastic Ent.’s new series MAYA & MIGUEL has already been sold in more than 30 countries, including to the BBC in the U.K.; Cartoon Network Latin America; NOGA in Israel; ABS-CBN in the Philippines and Luk International in Spain and Portugal. The international broadcasters have acquired all 65 half-hour episodes of the breakthrough series.

French producer/distributor Moonscoop has signed a major deal with FUNimation Productions Ltd., the brand management company behind the wildly successful DRAGON BALL Z franchise, making the company the exclusive licensing agent for CODE LYOKO in the U.S. The far-reaching deal also makes FUNimation the exclusive home video distributor to CODE LYOKO for the U.S. and English-speaking Canada.

Adina Pitt has been promoted from director to vp of Acquisitions for Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, Nickelodeon's digital channel for the next generation of animation. Pitt will handle pre-buys and acquisitions for both networks, reporting to Pete Danielsen, svp of programming, Nickelodeon; and Keith Dawkins, vp/gm, Nicktoons.
