Serge Bromberg Steps Down as Annecy Festival Director

Tonight’s closing ceremonies brought more than the jury selections of prize winning films as Serge Bromberg announced that after 14 years at the helm, he was stepping down as Annecy festival director.

The Annecy International Animation Festival just concluded its 36th edition this evening, June 9, 2012. “Tram” by Michaela Pavlátová took home the Annecy Cristal as the top short film, while “Crulic – The Path to Beyond,” by Anca Damian, took the top prize for feature film.

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is taking the official competition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival by storm with four films: “Le grand ailleurs et le petit ici” (“Here and the Great Elsewhere”) by Michèle Lemieux, “Bydlo” by Patrick Bouchard, “Edmond était un âne” (“Edmond Was a Donkey”) by Franck Dion and “Kali le petit vampire” (“Kali the Little Vampire”) by Regina Pessoa.

The Annecy Festival announced the official selections for the 2012 edition of the festival, comprised of 49 short films, 55 graduation films, and 60 TV and commissioned films, including 21 TV series, two TV specials and 37 commissioned films. 40 short films were also selected outside of competition.

Creative Focus Annecy Call for Entries

Animation artists have until February 15 to submit projects for The Creative Focus conference at the 2012 Annecy International Animated Film Festival, to be held in Annecy, France June 5-8, 2012.
