What if kids could get involved with predicting their own snow days -- or hit-the-beach days? Beginning Monday, April 20 on PBS KIDS GO! (check local listings), they can find out a lot more about weather with one of their favorite animated series. CYBERCHASE is launching a new seventh-season "Weather Watchers" initiative that brings climate issues front and center with new episodes, a challenging new online game, and rich outreach activities.

Headline News Fiends Invade Nicktoons

Toothy fiends, giant cats, exploding pigeons, screaming vegetables, and hungry mailboxes -- your television will never be the same. Independent animator Amy Winfrey's popular web series MAKING FIENDS is now also a full length television series on the Nicktoons network. MAKING FIENDS debuted on Nicktoons in October 2008, and is currently the channel's highest rated original program. Episodes air every Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. A special marathon featuring all the television episodes will be airing on February 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.

Headline News Digital Anarchy: Two Plugins for Apple's Aperture

Digital Anarchy, a provider of cost-effective special effects software for Adobe and Apple products, has released two software products for use in Apple's Aperture. Knoll Light Factory generates lighting effects that dramatically enhance the natural or man-made lighting in photographs. ToonIt! Photo creates cartoon-like images from photographs, freeing artists from time consuming techniques such as hand painting and masking. Both products are currently available for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

Headline News Clone Wars Heads to Cartoon Networks Around the Galaxy

Lucasfilm Animation's STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will debut internationally on 23 different feeds of Cartoon Network in 19 languages on Feb. 13.

The show, which is wrapping up its run on the U.S. Cartoon Network before heading over to TNT, will air in Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Southeast Asia (Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore) and Taiwan starting Feb. 13.

Priceline.com is partnering with SETH MACFARLANE'S CAVALCADE OF CARTOON COMEDY to exclusively debut the newest collection of CAVALCADE digital shorts featuring new animated characters from FAMILY GUY creator Seth MacFarlane. In the campaign, William Shatner's famous alter ego, "The Priceline Negotiator," is featured in animated intros of the new shorts, which can be seen on www.youtube.com/sethcomedy as well as through targeted sites on the web via Tremor Media's video network.

Headline News Clone Wars Heading to TNT

Lucasfilm Animation's animated series STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, which has enjoyed a spectacular run on Cartoon Network, is coming to TNT for an encore run this February.

The network will kick off the series with back-to-back episodes presented in high-definition Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 p.m. (ET/PT), immediately following TNT's NBA All-Star Saturday Night. TNT will then present back-to-back episodes in the series' regular timeslot, Wednesdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning Feb. 18.

Headline News Stevenson to Helm Live-Action Masters of the Universe

KUNG FU PANDA co-director John Stevenson told AWN that he intends to follow-up his Oscar-nominated animated feature with a live-action version of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Meanwhile, VARIETY reported that Warner Bros. has made the deal to cinematically reboot the popular Mattel toy line, with Joel Silver producing and Mattel's Barry Waldo serving as exec producer.

The MoonScoop Group's Taffy Ent. has secured deals for two of its newest animated TV series on key broadcasters across Spain. Cartoon Network Spain has picked up all three seasons of TITEUF and TV Catalunya also snapped up broadcast rights to the new preschool series AVA RIKO TEO.

Headline News Chop Socky Chooks Head to France 3

DECODE Enterprises has signed a sales deal for CHOP SOCKY CHOOKS to France 3. The 26x22 3D animated series is a DECODE Ent. co-production with Aardman Animations.

The deal was concluded by Emmanuelle Bon, DECODE's newly-appointed Territory Manager for French speaking territories, Scandinavia and the Benelux.

Public channel France 3 follows commissioning broadcasters Cartoon Network (Worldwide) and Canada's Teletoon in acquiring the 7-11 years-targeted show which features "Kickin' Chickens in Kung Fu Capers."

Online protests hoping to protest the casting of M. Night Shyamalan's live-action take on AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER are continuing.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY reported in December that Shyamalan offered the roles of Aang to karate-trained Texan Noah Ringer; Sokka to Jackson Rathbone (TWILIGHT); Katara to Nicola Peltz (DECK THE HALLS); and Zuko to Jesse McCartney, all Caucasian actors to portray Asian characters.

Tuesday marks the debut of consumer products campaigns for two of Cartoon Network's top-rated original comedy series, CHOWDER and FLAPJACK, as Now and Zen Productions was named the apparel partner for both brands. This marks the first licensing deal for each brand, with product launching at specialty retailers nationwide this spring. The apparel lines from Now and Zen will include T-shirts and fleece tops for both juniors and young men and will bring the whimsical tone and humor of the shows to fans.

Nickelodeon has inked a deal with production company O'Malley Creadon to produce the first-ever SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS documentary in celebration of the series' 10th anniversary. Acclaimed filmmaker Patrick Creadon (WORDPLAY and I.O.U.S.A) will co-produce, direct and write the documentary, along with co-producer Christine O'Malley. The one-hour original television documentary (title TBA) will chronicle the ascent of the absorbing character's journey to pop culture stardom.

Headline News Bebop Anime Film Adaptation Gets Keanu

Keanu Reeves is attached to star in a live-action adaptation of Japanese anime TV series COWBOY BEBOP for Twentieth Century Fox, according to VARIETY.

Reeves would reunite with THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL producer Erwin Stoff (through his 3 Arts banner) and would play the role of Spike Spiegel, an adventurous bounty hunter traveling through space circa 2071. Spiegel and his fellow bounty hunters travel via spaceship, the Bebop.

Screenplay is being penned by Peter Craig and Joshua Long is exec producing.

The 28th edition of the Brussels Anima Festival, one of the most important animation festivals in Europe, will be taking place during the Carnival holiday period, from February 20-28.

Anima 2009 will be once again opening with a sneak preview: the latest film by Hayao Miyazaki, PONYO ON THE CLIFF BY THE SEA, an animated feature for young and old, whose heroine is a little goldfish princess who desperately wants to become human, and in her search, becomes friends with 5-year-old Sosuke. This film was in the official competition at the last Venice festival.

Headline News Little Princess Set to Rule in Spain

TV-Loonland has secured various deals within the Spanish territory for its animation series LITTLE PRINCESS, produced by The Illuminated Film Company.

Free TV rights were licensed to TVE Spain and Cartoon Network Spain acquired the Pay TV rights for the preschool series. LITTLE PRINCESS is set to premiere soon on TVE's LA 2.

Home entertainment rights were picked up by Big Picture Ent. and will release the first LITTLE PRINCESS DVD in August/September 2009.

Headline News Renegade Animation, Fitzroy Media Plan Animated Heathcliff Interstitials

Street-smart feline Heathcliff is about to make a comeback as media property development company Fitzroy Media (FRM) has tapped Renegade Animation to produce a series of new projects featuring the mischievous cat.

This month, Renegade will begin production of 50 two-minute animated interstitials. Animation director Darrell Van Citters, who leads Renegade's creative team, will develop an updated look for the new animation. Targeting an adult and tween audience, the new Heathcliff will focus on comedy set against a hip, club-music sound.
