Program

Who are the contemporary virtual characters and what are they and their managers up to? And we, grey humans, where are going along with our avatars? Cartoombria 2001 tries to respond to these questions in the full two-day event.

Cartoombria, back again at the Teatro del Pavone, presents for the first time a live performance and showcases fresh and funny characters as well as new and refined animated images. This edition concentrates on the most recent and inedited productions including films, trailers, visual effects, mixmedia shorts, first films and schools productions, music videos, commercials, games, computer and web animation creations.

The International Animation Exhibition gives broad space to Web Animation exploring the frontiers of animation in Internet; so, the characters of the strip cartoons performing in the Net, the 3D animation with the avatars and the virtual testimonials, are the starting point for introducing a new subject that is the virtual character or digital actor within real-time animation on line and off line, motion capture, Artificial Intelligence softwares and 3D streaming. After Animutations.net, this year the site www.cartoombria.com has to place at all sufers' disposal a large section dedicated to animation for the web. Almost seventy new very interesting links can be consulted by enthusiasts and experts. The contents: WebComics in Italy and worldwide, WebCartoons, WebReviews, WebExperiments, WebGames...
