The British directors Alison Snowden and David Fine, have also partecipated to the Festival with the film Bob's Birthday that won the Oscar Award in 1995.
In 1996 the Festival was very honoured to host the young French cartoonist Federico Vitali and, as special guest of Cartoombria Festival 1996, the Japanese Katshuiro Otomo with his film Memories, screened together with a rich selection of his works. Moreover Mr. Otomo acted as Chairman of the International Jury awarding the best Italian production for the Premio Cartoombria Italy 1996.
The current edition, taking place in the historic Teatro del Pavone, will include several programs: retrospectives, TV previews, special events and International guests, following the same criteria used in the previous editions which met with the favour of the audience and the critics'approval.
Cartoombria Festival aims at both becoming one of the best opportunity for International animation and at showing the latest top-quality animation film productions. Particularly the Festival highlights the newest trends in animation such as computer animation, multimedia products and interactive technologies in animation and all present and future frontiers.
