4th INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL 4 FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DEL CINEMA DI ANIMAZIONE The Artistic Committee of Cartoombria '98 - International Animation Exhibition (Mostra Internazionale dell'Animazione) is very pleased to present the fourth edition of the event which is promoted and organized by Fondazione Umbria Spettacolo and Region of Umbria, with the support of Province of Perugia and the Department of Arts of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers. Cartoombria '98 will take place in Perugia (Italy) from November 20 to 22, 1998 at the Teatro del Pavone and other venues. This year Cartoombria will focus on emerging creativity based on a global point of view while trying to reach the balance between past and present. On this subject the Festival will organize an historical section tracing the computer animation to its origins to be compared to the development of the experimentation realized through conventional means. This special edition of Cartoombria '98 aims both to introduce the expanding new trends and the emerging technologies of different animation languages including, among others, interactive, digital and real time tecniques, digital special effects. This year the Artistic Committee intends to enhance the new identity of Cartoombria as to the increasing number of events of the same kind. Therefore Cartoombria '98 will not advertise any competition within the Festival. The Artistic Committee will select a choice of outstanding works, including retrospectives, exhibits, workshops, screenings, premieres and tributes to authors.
