The second annual Downtown Film Festival - Los Angeles (DFFLA), the only dedicated film festival in the historic core of the Entertainment Capital of the World, will be held August, 12-22, 2009. Thousands of animators, students and studio executives will flock to the Canada's capital from October 14-18 to take part in the 2009 Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF). It's a five-day whirlwind of screenings, presentations, parties and the Television Animation Conference (Oct. 14 and 15).
NYC's premiere animation festival, Animation Block Party, closes for worldwide submissions on May 29, 2009. All entries must be postmarked by that date in order to be considered for this summer's July 24-26 film festival. In 2008, ABP received over 800 submissions, screening over 100 of these films during its three-day annual festival at Rooftop Films and Bam Cinematek.
