REVIEW: Shank

While at the Game Developers choice award show in San Francisco, there were so many indie titles that hoped would show up on home systems. But when it came to Shank, I prayed more fervently than for any other. One of the reasons is that Shank is one of my most personal favorite genres; 2D side-scroller. You don't see many of those anymore, especially one this beautifully animated. Click ahead to read more.

The people who put together the Video Games Live concerts are putting together an official Video Games Live MP3 player. The MP3 player will feature 2 GIGs of internal memory, a built in mic to record audio, a built in speaker in case you lose your headphones and what looks like a color LCD display. The MP3 player will be packaged with a pair of VIVO headphones and a USB adapter to transfer songs, of course.

I have always loved the God of War series and the last God of War on PS2 left us with a cliffhanger in the story. Since then Sony has been teasing the crap out of us with God of War III screen shots, trailers, press releases, and all kinds of other stuff except for the actual game itself. E3 '09 showed off a very pretty demo which was then made available on PSN a few months later. But a demo of God of War III is not really God of War III!

Finally, God of War III has hit store shelves and Kratos fans everywhere are getting their fill of their favorite, bloody, vengeful, tormented, family-friendly Spartan! Hit the jump to see our review of God of War III.

Continuing our series of the best games of '09, we're taking a look at the best underground titles of last year. What that means is we're recognizing the best games of '09 that had absolutely no fan following before it was released. Brand new IPs and low-budget projects are exacly what you'll find here. But let's be real, a game doesn't need a huge fan following or a huge budget to be excellent and that was proven over again with the very well produced games on this list. Hit the jump to see what we thought we're the best.

Call of Duty: Black Ops To Feature Zombies!

It's no secret that gamers love zombies. Gamers and zombies go together like lamb and tuna fish! Following in the popularity of the zombie mode of Call of Duty: World at War, Activision and Treyarch have announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops will also feature zombies.

Here's what we know; the Black Ops zombie mode will have the ability to be played cooperatively by up to four players. Sound familiar? Getting either the Prestige or Hardened editions of Black Ops will also include an additional four co-op zombie maps which are updated maps from World at War. There will also be a new co-op mode in Black Ops called Combat Training. But who the heck wants to play that? We want zombies, dang it!

iPad and iPhone users will also be treated to more zombie content as Call of Duty: ZOMBIES will be receiving a new map called Der Riese (“Zombie Factory”) which is another updated map from World at War. This new map is available now at Apple's App Store at itunes.com/appstore.

Never has such a momentous story featuring zombies ever been told! Well... save for this one.

Like in any fighting game featuring characters that fly around, can lift busses, fire out huge energy blasts from their hands and have color changing hair, Dragon Ball Raging Blast gives Xbox 360 and PS3 owners a new reason to pick up their controllers and beat the living hell out of eachother (in the game, not with their controllers). REVIEW: Alan Wake

I have to be honest. I was completely clueless when I first saw footage of Alan Wake. I didn't know what kind of game it was, I didn't know if it was based on something or not, I just knew that it looked amazing. Just from the trailer that was shown at last year's E3, I saw some very impressive looking lighting effects, especially for a game that was coming out exclusively for the Xbox 360. I got to spend time with the final build of Alan Wake; hit the jump to see how this unique title turned out...
