The brain-child of Stan Lee’s POW Entertainment and studio Bones, Heroman is the story of Joey Jones, an average boy devoid of confidence and strength. But, in classic comic book fashion, Joey happens upon a toy robot that transforms into the mighty giant robot Heroman. Together they not only learn and grow, but are also Earth’s only hope in combating an alien invasion.

A definite presence at this year’s Tokyo Anime Fair, Heroman boasts a perfect union of Stan Lee’s story telling and Bones’ anime trappings. The result is apparently a welcome diversion from the typical shonen action.

From what I’ve seen so far, I have to agree. Stan Lee’s heroic fingerprints are all over this project, and studio Bones is rapidly emerging as the preeminent anime filter for video game and western content (e.g. the HALO anime series). For everyone, this cultural hybrid is arguably something new. Visually we’ll clearly be experiencing anime, but the content and characters will have a whole new angle.

Exciting? Indeed. Better yet, Crunchyroll will begin streaming Heroman within one hour after airing on TV Tokyo. So, we won’t have to wait long.

Check Crunchyroll for the latest streaming info.
