Adapted from the webcomic of Hidekaz Himaruya, World War II Europe never looked so…cute??? No, there are no geographical boarders, or armies, or even the dogs of war. Instead, countries such as Italy, France, England, Japan, Germany, and America appear as personified characters.  And the politics and conflicts of the 40’s are revised through the lens of comedy and innuendo.

Alright Naruto fans, get ready to put your jutsu to work. TOMY is due to release two titles that you cannot miss: Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 (Wii) and Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 (DS).

At this year’s Comic-Con I had a chance to preview these games at the TOMY booth. Let’s just say I’m elated that I scheduled a brief appointment.

Prior to Comic-Con TOMY hooked me up with a copy of Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Council 4 for the DS. Admittedly, I haven’t been much of a fan of the DS system. I never found the small screen and 2D visuals very attractive. As a Naruto fan, however, this title began to alter my opinion of DS gaming.

Ghost in The Shell 2.0

Originally released in 1995, Mamoru Oshii’s startling – and growingly – accurate look at the future tracks a typical story in the life of Major Motoko Kunsanagi.  With a body more cybernetic than flesh, she hunts the streets of Hong Kong for the elusive Puppet Master. In this world, hacks are no longer limited to laptops and government mainframes but destabilize human brains and limbs themselves. Amid corporate and political intrigue, how do you hunt a criminal capable of manipulating machines and human bodies? When consciousness can exist and operate in cyberspace, a new and truly global stage in human existence emerges. 

Cobra The Animation

Already streaming on Crunchyroll, this pirate tale follows the rogue Cobra. With a gun for a left arm, a surgically altered face, and a cybernetic companion called Lady, he’s been trying to live the peaceful life. But with these attributes, how can trouble overlook you? Soon Cobra finds himself back on his favorite ship, cruising the universe and looking for adventure.

Baka

Within days of their Japanese television debut, FUNimation has begun streaming Baka and Test and Dance in the Vampire Bund. Better yet, they’re offering a high quality stream and the original Japanese dialogue accompanied by English subtitles. What can I say? This should definitely be fan-boy approved!

Soul Eater 2

When we last left our deadly duo, Maka was intent on killing enough demons to turn Soul into the ultimate weapon: a Death Scythe. Well, that still is the goal. But the witch Medusa has infiltrated the Grim Reaper’s Academy in a nefarious bid to awaken the Kishin, the superlative force of darkness. Maka and friends must now lay personal plans aside and fight to save the Academy itself.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

As I’ve said before, Brotherhood is essentially a recasting of the original story found in the manga of Hiromu Arakawa. The Elric brothers, gifted in the advance science of creating objects from raw materials, are back on the road to find a magical artifact that will heal their bodies. Their first experiment with alchemy, a failed bid to revive their dead mother, left Edward with metal limbs and Alphonse’s soul permanently attached to a suit of armor. Now, as a fully sanctioned State Alchemist, Edward and his brother balance duty and their search for redemption. 

Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment has teamed up with Tezuka Productions to bring Urasawa’s PLUTO to the big screen as a live-action/CG hybrid.
