Via its online FuniCon panel today, FUNimation announced that it has licensed the anime adaptation of Yana Toboso’s Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) manga. This series unravels the tale of Sebastian Michaelis, the demon butler who carries out any task his master requires. And his master just happens to be an ingenious 12 year-old named Ciel.

Helmed by Toshiya Shinohara through A-1 Pictures Inc, the first season runs 24-episodes. A second season should be released in July 2010. But to keep this series fresh, butler and master are changed.

Oh, and like so many supernatural based series, the goth aesthetic is oozing out of every pore.
