Somewhere on a Malibu Beach with Bill Littlejohn, a remembrance of a master animator.
I just heard the news of Bill Littlejohn’s passing. Bill was an amazing person, artist and animator.

A "mushroom" and his wife take flight south to the land of theme parks for a new adventure in animation.
Well, I am back in Savannah (for now). The Incubator Studio ended and I sadly said “goodbyes” to the folks at Bloomfield College and Cicely Tyson High School.
Life on the road can be challenging! As the Studio headed into the its last week a familiar cadence ensued. It began with me awakening each morning at 5:30 am
We are just finishing our second week of production on MIMI AND GACK. This year there is a whole new crew with a set of veterans from last year’s production of PETE’S ODYSSEY.
As with all animated films, tons of images are created during the pre-production process. Color keys, layouts (the camera angles for the eventual backgrounds or environments, animation tests, etc. Here is a smattering of the images created for MIMI AND GACK. PRODUCTION HASN'T EVEN BEGUN YET! Just to give you an idea, PETE'S ODYSSEY, a 6 minute film - generated over 6,000 drawings!
Lately, with all the comings and goings, I have still managed to stay on track with my next film MIMI AND GACK . The ruff boards were finished three weeks ago – and I made the decision to create more finished boards that would be easier for colleagues to follow
As mentioned previously, the BIFF screening schedule is not for the faint of heart. There are Beaufortonians that have seen EVERY film at all four BIFF festivals since its inception. This year over 4000 people watched the films and attended the Festival’s events.
Now after a week later and a brand new Gateway, I am back from the abyss. Buoyed by 4 gigs of memory and a 500 gig hard drive I am almost to my pre-crash status. Miss my itunes!
I lost a week’s work and I had hoped to catch up on my blog and my Winter Wonderland Tour.
The Tour picked up at Bloomfield College in where else Bloomfield, New Jersey. It was like coming home.
I taught an animation master class to a group of enthusiastic students. We covered dynamic posing, line of action, thumbnails, center of gravity, balance/counter balance and weight. It lasted three hours and we had a fun time exploring some of animations fundamentals.
Next up …the first ever Savannah International Film Festival…
Hello. I have moved my blog to AWN and changed it's name to....what else...
See you over there!
Larry
Unlike other years, finding ideas for new short projects were scarce. This year, that has not been the case.
Even though the New Year has begun, it’s not too late to think about a few resolutions… animation and otherwise…
Okay, tonight is the premiere of PETE’S ODYSSEY at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ. - just minutes from the Big Apple!
Congrats to Executive Producers Charlotte and Bill Rinderknecht. PETE'S ODYSSEY been awarded an INDIE FEST award.

First off... MERRY CHRISTMAS! Second, I hadn't posted in a while thinking that any day my blog was to be moved to AWN. As busy as they are... that hasn't happened yet... so, I will just continue with my current blog entries until is does happen.
The last month or so has been busy with the Holidays, finishing up projects and making sure PETE'S ODYSSEY is out there at festivals.
So far we have been selected to 4 film festivals. We won a first place for Best Animated Short... at the AG Indie Film Festival in Smithfield, NC. By the way, I usually stop of at Smithfield when I travel North to see clients in D.C. and in New Jersey and other places in the Northeast.
Also, PETE is a finalist in the Beaufort Film Festival in South Carolina. It is an official selection in the Savannah International Animation Festival and the Amelia Island Film Festival.

We are entering PETE in festivals to take advantage of her shelf life. In the meantime, I am working on other projects - preproduction and scripts.

Now I have a bit more time for drawing. Here are some recent drawings and sketches.
Here is some footage I took at the premiere of PETE’S ODYSSEY. It has the students, Michelle Armstrong singing and a snippet from PETE - shot off the screen.
