Idiots’ Diary #10: Street Team

Part of my campaign to build up the crowd enthusiasm for my Idiots & Angels premier in NYC is getting the animation students involved. I've planned a number of school visits to help spread the word to my most hard-core audience. Yesterday, I visited Marty Abrahams' class at The School of Visual Arts here in NYC.

Not only did I show some of my films and some works-in-progress, but I also did some drawing demonstrations.  While I had their attention, I made a pitch for street team volunteers – we'll call them “Team Idiots.”   With the supervision of the wonderful Alexia Anastasio, we want to cover NYC with cards and posters promoting my US premier on Oct. 6th at the animation-friendly IFC.

We believe that since I have no money for billboards, NY Times ads, and TV spots, we've got to use alternate sources to spread the word.  If we can get a team of enthusiastic zealots to spread the good name of my film premier then hopefully we'll have pandemonium at the box office.
