Guest programme René Windig René Windig, famous with Heinz, drawn with co-drawer Eddie de Jong, has created a programme for the Holland Animation Film Festival with his favourite Felix the Cat films. The programme is put together after the well-known film evenings he and Eddie de Jong held in the eighties. An excellent opportunity to see the adventures of Felix the Cat on the big screen once more. Windig started his career in the late seventies, with comic parodies on famous cartoon characters, and later became the winner of the Stripsschapprijs with Heinz. His enthusiasm is infectious, while he leads you through the first years of Felix the Cat.

His love for old films is clearly represented in the selection, that mainly shows cartoons between 1923 and 1930. They are clearly moving pictures, with a vibrant humour that still works, almost a century later. Felix uses everything within his reach, even his tail becomes an umbrella or a question mark.

KunstStripBeurs (Art Comic Fair)

Saturday 23 March the sixth edition of the KunstStripBeurs takes place in Nicolaï church in Utrecht. More than seventy (comic) artists and illustrators sell their originals, prints, books, T-shirts and buttons.

One of the attendees, Marc Verhaegen, known from Suske and Wiske, will stand at the fair with his own comic Senne and Sanne. Joost Swarte, winner of the Marten Toonder Prize 2012, and Jeroen de Leijer, creator of Eefje Wentelteefje, will also be present. Besides renowned names the Art Comic fair also gives new talent a chance to present their work, for example Aimée de Jongh, who has also been selected for the festival with her film Aurora. The fair is open from 10:00 to 17:00, admission is free.

The festival shows a number of films based on comics, or are in any other way involved in comics. Pinocchio by Enzo d'Alo, uses supreme artwork of Lorenzo Mattotti. Tito on Ice (Max Andersson and Helena Ahonen), follows the promotional tour of the the Swedish cartoonists Max Andersson and Lars Sjunnesson through former Yugoslavia, accompanied by a doll that is intended to look like the mummy of Tito.
