FUNimation Entertainment officially announced the acquisition of four new titles: Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, Sekirei, Full Metal Panic!, and Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU.

Tetsuwan Birdy

Not the first (1996’s Birdy the Mighty), but the second anime version of Masami Yuuki’s orginal manga, Tetsuwan Birdry Decode answers one question. What happens when interstellar space agent Birdy saves the life of an innocent boy by merging their bodies into one? A girl and boy sharing the same body; oh the anime hijinks will undoubtedly ensue!

This is as contemporary as it gets. Tetsuwan’s first season aired in 2008, and the second just ran from January to March 2009.

Sekirei

Sekirei is the adaptation of Sakurako Gokurakuin’s manga, which is only available in Japan. The brilliant Minato Sahashi just can’t pass his college entrance exam. Officially dubbed a loser, he runs into Musubi, a girl who will change his life forever. No, this ain’t your typical love story. Yes, Minato is on the path to gaining strength and confidence. But Musubi will reveal that he is an Ashikabi, a unique man capable of hooking up with the 108 hot buxom gals called Sekirei!

Now, just why are they called Sekirei? Well tune in later. Same anime time. Same anime channel.

Sounds like a labor worthy of Hercules. This should be a fan service delight.

Full Metal Panic! and Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU.  Sousuke Sagara has a double life. This seventeen-year-old is both high school student and expert pilot for the secret military organization MITHRIL. Between guarding his classmate and MITHRIL prospect Chidori and piloting his advanced mecha, Sousuke is trying to enact a normal life.

Following up on the release of the third season, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, FUNimation now brings us the first season and a sequel, FUMOFFU, that comprises of various vignettes. This is classic mecha anime, one based on the popular light novels of Shoji Gatoh. Full Metal Panic! should find a home within the fan base of Gundam, Evangelion, Code Geass, etc.
