She has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the MacDowell Colony and Djerassi Foundation. Her films have received top honors at over 80 festivals. Mrs. Priestley was a founding member of ASIFA-Northwest.
Zerox and Mylar, a film by Joel Brinkerhoff. A classic cartoon cat and mouse conflict with a twisted twist. Brinkerhoff began making animated films when he was 13, and he started working professionally at age 19. His work includes national and international TV commercials and work on theatrical productions for Disney, Warner Brothers and Will Vinton Studios.
Fluffy by Doug Aberle is based on real events. "A true joy of dog ownership." The work was animated using Animation Master by Hash, Inc. and then printed out on textured paper, registered and photographed on an animation stand. Aberle won his first award in 1981 at the Rochester International Film Festival. He has worked for Will Vinton Studios since 1983 on their major productions (Return to Oz, Captain EO, Speed Demon, Cool Tools, etc.).
Deidre's Choice by Rose Bond was made by painting directly onto clear film stock. Most animators use the technique for abstract work, but Bond achieves work that contains the filmic language of live action narrative. She served as president of ASIFA-Northwest for several years and has won several awards at festivals.
Summer Wind and commercials by Webster Colcord. Summer Wind's soundtrack is a poem sent in by a 16-year old girl to a Lutheran Church radio show entitled "Silhouette" in the 1960's. Colcord is the present president of ASIFA-NW. He began his career doing Super-8 films, joined Vinton's studio as a clay animator in 1987 and became a freelance artist doing commercials in Portland in 1990. His clients have included CBS, Warner Brothers TV, Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health, Converse shoes, etc. He worked 4 months on James and the Giant Peach as an animator. One of his not so straight clients is Weird Al Yankovic. He has also made work for the Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation.
