DEADLINE REMINDER The following festivals have been mentioned in recent newsletters. See your back issues for details. The deadline for Nashville (Sinking Creek) is April 20, Wine Country Film Festival is April 30. the National Educational Media Network's Media Market is April 24 and Ottawa is July 1. BRAINWASH MOVIE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES THE EVENT WILL BE at the South of Market Cultural Center July 3 - 5. Work from past festivals is now touring the South-West. David Krzysik is presenting shows in
Albuquerque and Houston in April. The deadline for entering the 1998 event is May 1. All work must be on VHS and under 13 min. $15 entry fee (plus $3 for return of tapes). Win strange prizes! (415) 273-1545 for entry forms.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH -"ANIMATION IS THE ART FORM FOR THE MILLENIUM" It comes from a British press release that goes on to say that this prediction is from "media pundits as the British animation industry rides the crest of an international wave of activity."

CRESTED BUTTE IS A NEW FESTIVAL WITH AN ANIMATION CATEGORY and a $250 cash prize for best animated short. There are other cash awards including the White Buffalo Peace Ale Award from the local brewery. Their Bob Award will go to the most outrageous work in the show. MARIN COUNTY NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SHORT FILMS has an April 10 deadline and $2,400 in cash prizes. There is an animation category. They only accept 16mm films. $25 entry fee. (415) 499-6400. Offices are at the Marin County Fair and Expo Center in San Rafael.

CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL IS OCT. 15-25
with a May 29 deadline. $35 entry fee for shorts. There is a $2,500 prize and lots of certificates awarded. They have Adult Jury Awards for best animated short and a separate prize for best animated feature. There are also children's jury prizes.
