Matthews will talk about his career as a producer and about his current work with computers at Sony Image Works in Culver City. Lots of clips of his work will be shown. For many years John Matthews has headed one of the few studios doing fully animated short subjects for children.
Matthews has produced work for ABC-TV, public television, the Disney Channel, Golden Book Video, and others. His work is loved by millions of children and the work has won dozens of major awards. The honors include the George Foster Peabody Award in 1986, the 1st Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video, 1991; a special jury award at the Chicago International Festival of Children's Films "in recognition of humane values reflected in his films for children," 1988, 5 Emmy nominations, 3 Ace nominations plus Gold Apples, Gold Eagles, Gold Medals, Bronze Medals, and dozens of other awards from festivals around the world.
