Who Are You?
I have had the privilege to write this column for the past couple of years. For those who are dedicated readers of Animation World Network, thank you for being so committed to this advocate of the animated art form. I thank you and the editors and publishers of AWN, thank you.
You know, I get tons of email from devoted animation fans asking me all sorts of questions about the craft or my own career. I usually refer them to my previously published articles, or my book, My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy, that already addresses just about everything from How did I get an agent? to Whats the best thing about my job?
Today, rather than exploring my own actions on the hard-won journey to success as a voice-over artist; I would like to find out more about you! Thats right. I am so curious about my readers, and what makes them tick, that I am taking the necessary steps to find out. In order for me to fulfill my duties as a regular columnist in AWN, I would like to know why you are interested in voiceovers. Is it for the money? Is it because you love making funny noises, like burps and farts? On the other hand, is it because you are driven to let that inner child step out in front and take center stage? Tell me!
Below are a few questions I would like to find out about who my actual audience is. You know who you are
the guy or gal who is in front of their computer monitor at the crack of dawn with a steaming hot cup of coffee in their hand, reading this article just for giggles and farts. Or are you the tireless artist who is so driven to succeed that you find yourself at your computer at midnight with a cup of calming chamomile tea, trying to stop those voices in your head by reading just about anything that will just shut them up!? Well, dear future kings and queens of the animation world, I have a favor to ask of you. Would you please take a moment to copy and then paste your answers to the following survey questions onto an email and send it to me toot-sweet to nancy@kidsister.com. If you do me this special favor and send me your name, address and phone number, I promise to send you an autographed 8x10 of Bart Simpson, and an autographed bookmarker if you would like. Or, just answer the survey if you like.
Thanks so much, and I hope to meet you someday in the recording booth at let us say, Fox, or Disney, or one of the major studios. Until next time
My best,
