Harvey Deneroff, Ph.D.
is Editor and Publisher of The Animation Report
and President of Animation Consultants International.
One of the world's leading authorities on animation, Harvey is
an industry brat (whose father worked for Fleischer and Famous Studios),
who is founder and past president of the Society for Animation Studies.
He has a B.A. in Film Techniques from the City College of New York,
an M.A. and Ph.D. in Cinema from the University of Southern California,
and a M.S. in Library Service from Columbia University.
Harvey is the author of The Art of Anastasia (HarperCollins,
1997), and is a regular contributor to The Hollywood Reporter's
animation issues (he was responsible for its 1997 and 1998 "Careers
in Animation" issues), Animation Magazine (for whom he wrote
the "Industry Notebook" column), and Animatoon. In
the past, he served as editor of Animation World Magazine, Society
for Animation Studies Newsletter, Animation Magazine, Screen
Cartoonist Annual and Graffiti (published by ASIFA-Hollywood).
As a consultant, he has done market surveys and profiles of the international
animation industry for Microsoft's Softimage division and MarketNet,
a division of Gameagent Corp. (on behalf of the provincial government
of New Brunswick, Canada). In addition to helping organize several international
conferences for the Society for Animation Studies, he was coordinator
of the 1995 Ojai Animation Conference.
Because of his expertise, Harvey has been interviewed for news
stories by MSNBC's Web news service, CNBC, Le Nouvel Economiste,
Associated Press, and CBC Radio, as well as appearing in the Pen
and Ink Movies episode of the Discovery Channel series, Hollywood
Chronicles.
