Sunningdale is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School situated in Sunderland
which caters for children with moderate, severe, and profound learning difficulties
aged between 2 and 11 years.
A short animated film, called SUN FLOWERS, created by the children
with the help of artists from Animha and musicians from around the world,
expresses in sound and vision the spirit of Sunningdale School.
The film is made of lively characters and colourful backgrounds
together with a unique soundtrack all made by the kids.
It was shown at a special Gala Premiere screening at
Sunderland University on July 5th 2005 together with
a short documentary about the making of the film.
It was then screened during the summer at the Respect Fesival in Sunderland
followed by a tour of film festivals throughout the region and the world.
Sunflowers was part of the ASIFA Childrens Project 2005 called
"The Sound of Animation".
