Between the Mountains and the Sea
Looking out from Ewanrigg across the Solway Firth

(Bounty Avenue>Ewanrigg>Maryport>Cumbria>Northern
England>United Kingdom>Northern Hemisphere>Earth)

We are a group of artists and young filmmakers from
Ewanrigg- a close-knit community with strong
traditions, and ties to home, looking out over the
Solway Firth to the world beyond.

We aim to reach out to the rest of the world with our
FILM PROJECT: a collection of short films from
Ewanrigg that celebrate CREATIVITY AND A SENSE OF
ADVENTURE AND THE FUN OF BEING out of our element.

Looking out from Ewanrigg across the Sea

We are building on a rich tradition of ship-building,
seafaring and adventure, that includes connections
with The Bounty and the Titanic, to make contemporary
journeys and links using the www.

The Premiere Screening of the Ewanrigg Film Project

showcasing the collaborative work of Dave Brunskill and Debby Akam,
and the work of many young film-makers from Maryport.
took place on
Thursday March 1st 2001 at Christ Church, Maryport Harbour
and it was a resounding success!

The programme featured

The kids were transported to the screening in a limo
There was also a short documentary of the project shown.

The event was attended by over 150 people
including many youngsters and their families

There was a video projection onto a large screen at the front of the church
and a simultaneous giant projection to the rear wall and through the
three elegant gothic windows.

The rear projection, in particular had a striking quality as the moving image
wrapped itself across the architectural forms of the clear lead glass windows.

Viewing from outside the building on the harbour side was also a unique spectacle.
The weather was calm and clear that mild night, providing excellent conditions
for viewers to enjoy the animated lightshow through the church windows.

A special screening of all the films also took place
on Sunday 4th March 2001 at Netherton and Ewanrigg Community Centre.
