Our Town Story -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During the summer of 2000, Animha Productions presented a series of animation workshops at schools in Middlesbrough, Teesside. These workshops were attended by children aged 10 to 14 years from The Avenue Primary School, Hall Garth Secondary, and Keldholme Secondary Schools A film was produced to the script of "Old Boro Town", a song written by children with local folk musician Richard Grainger. A variety of subjects were brought to life through cut-out animation including the children`s own interpretations of the local landmarks, street life, history, dreams and hopes. The aim of the project was to provide a sequence of film as a backdrop for the performance of River of Discovery `Our Town Story` at The Millennium Dome, Greenwich, London on 10th October 2000 The live performance by over 60 people was choreographed by Tees Dance Initiative. A screening of the work also took place in September 2000 at Middlesbrough Theatre. The project was supported by Middlesbrough Borough Council and sponsored by McDonalds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
