Animating the Web: RealFlash

RealFlash technology can seem daunting. However, the following two articles, "RealFlash: The First Step" and "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love RealFlash," will hopefully, make it less intimidating.

RealNetworks, Macromedia, and Animation World Network are sponsoring the RealFlash Animation Festival. We are including two articles in this issue to introduce the new tool of RealFlash to our readership. RealFlash combines vector-based animation tools to create high quality animation and sync sound, with streaming technology to deliver the animation over the Internet in real time (no more waiting to download!).

RealFlash: The First Step by Pat Boyle & Shelley McIntyre explains the basics of RealFlash and its role in the developing world of entertainment programming over the Internet.

Bill Predmore of POP! Multimedia then details putting RealFlash to work in How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love RealFlash. By explaining the production strategy he used to create a piece for Warner Bros., he leads us through the RealFlash process.
