19 animators, from 12 countries, came together in Nicole Salomon's Workshop
in Annecy to celebrate the First Century of Cinema.
Who better than creators in animation to pay tribute to this 20th century
art form? To remind us that the first cinematic projection took place in
1892, frame by frame, handmade by Emile Reynaud.
Their task: to condense a century into 8 days. They fought, argued, laughed,
struggled to communicate - slowly using only the small desks and materials
of the youngsters who normally work in the workshop. They drew, modelled,
cut out, patched, and stencilled a film together.
The result is the Palace of Dreams - A labour fo love.
